AU vs UT (Tennessee)

Saturday's game was another nail biter but we had fun! DeLena, Marlin's youngest daughter came with us this time. She and I jumped out of the car to take this first picture of the crazy Auburn J & M Bookstore van. The second picture was made in front of a fraternity house while we "tailgated" before the game. We walked about 8 blocks to the stadium and took the picture of the blow up "Aubie" by a tailgate on the way. The Auburn band is on the field taken from our seats in the upper deck. The last picture is my friend since 5th grade, Emily Pollard, and her husband P D and son, Duncan who just happen to sit right across the aisle from us at all the home games! War Eagle!

This summer was a summer of reunions. The first was a Phi Mu from Auburn reunion with a group of friends who were close during our college days. It was the last weekend in June at Janet Willis' beautiful home in Brownsville, TN. The picture was made at Janet and John's farm in front of a corn field. We all came home with about 12 ears of freshly picked corn! Now I know the difference between freshly picked corn and store bought corn. There's no comparison.
It was uncanny how we all just picked up where we left off as far as great conversations, LOTS of laughter, reliving old times, catching up, looking at recent pictures as well as old pictures, etc. We've all had some wonderful times as well as some painful experiences and we talked about most of them. We shared stories about our children, grandchildren, our live experiences,etc.
On the way home Cindy wasn't sure how to get back to the main highway so Connie and I assured her that she could follow us since there were 2 of us. One to look at the map and the other to drive. We didn't want Cindy to have her life endangered by trying to read the map while she was driving. Well, before we even made it to the interstate we had taken 2 wrong turns because we were talking instead of reading the map. Of course, I was the one who wasn't driving and was supposed to be reading the map!
The Samford Phi Mu reunion was a bigger group. There were graduates from 1973-1979. We had a luncheon at the Phi Mu House and got together at the Embassy Suites after that. Again, a good time of catching up, looking at old and new pictures and talking about old times. Kyle, who was Miss Alabama USA said, " I like the way we USED to look better." Most of us would agree with that comment! We are going to try to get together more often.
The group of friends from elementary and high school have gotten together twice now and we've also had a great time talking about our lives then and now. Keep in mind that our elementary school was 1st - 8th grade so we went to school together for a LONG time.
Dale, Debora, Susie and I have also been friends forever! We were in each other's wedding and have kept up with each other through the years. Friends are Forever!!

Twins

Can you guess which one is Donovan and which one is Marlin? This picture was made on their birthday at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. I don't think about them looking that much alike anymore until we go to one of the Marbury football games and people look at Donovan strangely because they wonder why Marlin is with a different wife. (Marbury High School is the school that Marlin's daughter's attend and his son used to attend.)
Oh, and Marlin teaches Spanish at Prattville High school. One day, after an Auburn game we were shopping in a book store in Prattville and a high school student came up to Donovan and said, "Ola, Senor Harris." He just answered, "How's it going?"
I am sure that student wondered why he didn't answer back in Spanish or call him by name.
Maybe he found out the next time he had Spanish class.

Three Beautiful Children

I love the picture of Peej sleeping.....one of the only times that he is STILL.....and you can see his beautiful eyelashes.
The picture of Ashley, my niece, Tracy's sweet little girl, is SO adorable...She loves to have her picture made!
This is an older picture of Kate but it shows her beautiful hair and her bright eyes! She's a sweetheart!

Some Special People

Every night as part of Peej's bedtime routine he prays for all of his friends and family members who are special to him. He says, "Pray Nanny, pray Uncle David, pray Aunt Leah, Uncle Matt" etc. These pictures show why these people are special to him....because they love him, and spend time with him. Shown in the pictures are Nanny who is Mercedes, his wonderful Nanny
who has taught him so much; Uncle Matt, who takes him down the slide in the swimming pool, and plays with him; and Uncle David, who lives with him now. He babysits, puts him to bed, plays with him, teaches him cute phrases,etc. He is a lucky little guy to have so many people who love him! Auburn vs LSU

OK....This is the night of the Big Game...We are on ESPN Game Day right now at the A U campus!
We will be there tonight at 6:45 along with 85,000 other fans. Hopefully, Auburn will play better than they have been playing and MAYBE they will actually WIN although I am not holding my breath.
We are going to the game with Marlin, Donovan's twin brother, and Katelyn, our beautiful niece who is a senior in high school. We have our little routine of going to Marbury to pick them up and heading to Auburn for the game while listening to the radio show that starts two hours before the game. We usually get there about 45 minutes before game time and park at the Beta House (David's former fraternity) and walk about 1 mile to the stadium.
Since it is a night game and people have been tailgating and partying all day, the crowd will be loud and rowdy...but it's all fun. Then, we will stay until the BITTER end of the game. We NEVER leave early mainly because Auburn is never far enough ahead for us to relax and count on the fact that we WILL win, but also because we don't want to miss anything!
So, we will not get back to Marbury until midnight, I'm sure and to B'ham until at least 1:00.
Depending on whether we win or lose the after the game mood will be either merry or mad!

Kate is SIX and in FIRST GRADE

Kate, D's adorable granddaughter who lives in Canada is 6 years old now and in first grade.
Although we KNOW she is that old, we can hardly believe that she actually IS that old.
She attends a French Immersion school, meaning that she studies in English in the morning and French in the afternoons. She LOVES school. She is completely SOCIAL, loves being around people, and enjoys learning!
Liz had told D that Kate couldn't wait to go to school and that she was the MOST excited about having a best friend! D called Kate after her first day and she was bubbly with excitement over her first day at school.
She said, "I have a best friend."
He replied, " Good, Kate, what is her name?"
Kate's response was ( with excitement still in her voice), " I don't remember." Priceless!!!!!
She is precious and smart and we are so thankful for her progress, her personality and her spirit. She is a special little angel!

Mommy and Me

Dribin'

Peej has a phrase....Dribin' (Driving) which just means that he gets in any car and plays around. Here he is in Nanny's car dribin' away!

Auburn Football

This is a picture of the crowd of Auburn fans gathering for Tiger Walk. Two hours before the game, the players and coaches walk from the Football Dorm to the stadium. The fans line up for the 3 or 4 blocks from the dorm to the stadium. The band plays, the cheerleaders lead the way, and it is just an inspiring way to start Game Day. Now, if we could only get our offense to gel and to utilize the great talent that we have all would be right in the world of Auburn Football.

David's Graduation

These are pictures from David's graduation which was in May! Three days before his 22nd birthday.
We are so proud of the Baby of the Family...our little Mavers...has GRADUATED and IN 4 YEARS....We ( me, Leah, Brooke, Nana, etc) have all kinds of emotions about this. Brooke is sad that all of the kids in our family are now grown-ups..meaning all are out of college. She actually cried about this!
I am sad that David is not 2 hours away and I can't just get in the car and go and see him... also that means that I have to wait until he is READY to talk on the phone to tell me what he is thinking, feeling, etc. which is once in a blue moon......and that I can't find him in the binoculars at the games...but I am happy that he is out of school and is ready to start his career.
Leah really doesn't care one way or the other. Sorry, L, but I'm sure that you'll admit that this is true!
Anyway, we LOVE our David and we are proud of the man that he has become in spite of having 3 mothers... or maybe because he has had 3 mothers (me, B, and L) to guide and direct him.

Pix of Peej and Ashley

Ashley and Peej are two weeks apart. They are so cute and they are each very gender appropriate. Ashley is all girl and Peej is all boy although he did enjoy playing with Ashley's stroller.

I am learning to post Pictures/ PSALM 91

Yea! I am in the learning process...notice pictures at the bottom of my blog. Soon, I will figure out how to put them IN the blog.

I am praying Psalm 91, the Psalm of protection, for all of my children in Texas. I did a Bible Study on the Psalm last spring and it is AWESOME. The Lord promises to hide us under His wings, He promises to take care of our troubles concerning our health,natural disasters, evil in this world, etc...if we dwell in HIM.
David has my book but I am going to order more to have on hand. Many people in the military have claimed this Psalm with miraculous results....from WW II, WW I, Korean War, Vietnam, etc. It is an awesome comfort in time of fear.

This is Kind of Fun

Thank you Leah and Tracy for being proud of me for blogging. It is kind of fun. Maybe one of these days I'll figure out how to put pictures on and I'll actually have something to say.......
