Houston Zoo

Peej took Uncle David and Honey to the zoo on Saturday before Christmas. We had a great time! He goes to the zoo regularly with Nanny, Reese, Grayson, Corey, and Fabi so he knew his way around pretty well.
When the Tiger saw his War Eagle jersey he roared! We saw monkeys. giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers and bears!

Adventures In Babysitting

Do you recognize the cute animal in the orange and blue vest?

Peej and David and I spent the weekend before Christmas together while Brooke, Peter, Leah and Matt went to New York to celebrate Brooke's 30th Birthday. We had a great time going to the Zoo, (pictures will come later) and doing all kinds of fun things.

Monday, David went to work so Peej and I set out on an adventure to Lowe's and then Fuddruckers. He decided right away that playing was much more fun than eating. So after eating 2 bites of his hamburger and being coaxed by me for 15 minutes to eat more, I decided to sit down 10 feet away from him and finish my burger while he drove the cars! He was the only one in the playroom at the time.

I could see him peeking into the machine with all the animals that had the crane....peeking into the hole where the animals come out...WELL, next thing I know he has crawled into the
tunnel where the animals come out and is standing in it ready to crawl in the midst of all of the stuffed animals!
Despite my coaxing to come back down feet first, he climbed into the machine and sat amongst the animals!

A couple of nice moms helped me by telling the manager and getting one of their sons
to get Peej a cookie for coaxing purposes. No Luck!

People all over the restaurant started coming into the room, taking pictures with their phones, laughing, telling other people to come and look!

In the midst of all of the hoopla, Peej just enjoyed sitting there looking at everyone.

The manager of the store informed me that he did not have a key to the machine but that he had called the vendor and that he was 20 minutes away and headed our way!

Well, after about 15 minutes, and a promise to go to the Pet Store to see the dogs and cats.
Peej decided to come out.
He was very methodical about it. He held on to the bar and chain that moves the crane, put his feet in the shoot and slid down feet first.
I had to get a little boy to hold the door to the shoot open and hold his hands to his side to get him out BUT it happened without any tears or apparent fear!
He came out with a handful of stuffed animals and 2 balls, which the manager put into a plastic bag for him to keep saying that he deserved them after that ordeal!

You think Brooke and Peter will allow me to babysit again?

Baby Boy Vescovo #2

Brooke went to see a specialist today because the last sonogram she had showed that she had a Single Umbilical Artery. After looking on the internet and being scared to death, we found out that the "normal" umbilical cord has 2 arteries and 1 vein.
She just happens to have only 1 artery and 1 vein. This CAN be the cause of problems but "So far, so good."
The sonogram today was a lot more powerful and shows more than the regular sonars. According to the Dr. everything looks great and normal. The baby weighs a little over 1 pound and seems to be doing very well.
She will go back again in about 6 weeks to have another sonogram just to make sure the baby is growing as he should be. Keep Baby V #2 in your prayers, please!

Who's the Cutest Boy We Know?

When Peej was only a few days old I made up a song for him to the tune of B I N G O.
Who's the Cutest Boy we know
His name is Peter Joseph
Who's the cutest boy we know
His name is Peter Joe
PETER, PETER, PETER
His name is Peter Joe

Honeth Wolluth

Translation: Honey's Rollers. Peej loves to put my rollers in his hair and now that his hair is a little longer they kind of stay in.

It's a Boy!

Boy, oh boy! We are having another Boy! Brooke and Peter had her ultrasound today and the sonographer declared 100% B O Y!
Peej will be such a good big brother, I am sure! They will grow up to be best friends and enjoy playing together!
Peej already LOVES to help so I am sure that he will be a big help to Mommy and Daddy!

Canada

We had a great time on a recent trip to Canada to visit Donovan (#2), Liz, his beautiful wife, and the famous adorable Kate! As you can see from the picture it was snowing a lot but it was so beautiful!
We had the privilege of visiting Kate's school twice. We got to see her do her morning routine, speak French, and go to recess! Actually, the recess impressed me the most.
Being an ex-teacher, I was incredulous at how much effort it took the 1st graders to go outside for 20 minutes!
They put on snow suits, took off the regular shoes, put on their snow boots, zipped up their jackets, put on their gloves, hats, scarves, etc. They just ran around in the snow for a few minutes, came back in, and took everything off and put their regular shoes on again!
We visited with Liz' great family, shopped, ATE, baked cookies, watched movies, and went to the restaurant where Donovan is the chef, Janet Lynn's. It was delicious! It seemed like we had about one of everything on the menu because there was so much.
We had a wonderful time and we look forward to going again when the weather is warmer!
