For some crazy reason..(saving $50 a month) we decided to switch our phone, TV, and internet service from Charter to AT&T. How many times in the past 2 weeks have a regretted this decision? Just about every day.
The first day, Friday, January 16, the telephone/ internet technician was supposed to come between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. I called and asked if there was ANY possible way that they could give me a narrower time frame...
"No, sorry."
He showed up at 3:30 pm. AND, he failed to test the phone jack in the room where the computer is located ...which did not work.... Thankfully, our charter service was still connected.
Donovan called to schedule another technician to come BACK out to fix the phone jack. Well, that was going to cost us $57.00 because we had not opted for the inside wiring repair. After an hour of talking to various customer service reps and trying to plead our case...The technician messed it up in the first place....he gave up and accepted the fee.
To add fuel to the fire, he was going to come on
Sunday...no hour given.
Now, I have 2 days that I can be home during the week but the
only time within a 2 week period that they could come to install the satellite for the TV was on Inauguration day which is a day that I normally can NOT be home. Luckily, my boss wanted to watch the inauguration at school with his daughter, so D and I worked it out to "share" the time between 8-12 to be here so Mr Technician could come to install our satellite. Guess what? 12:00 came and went and No Technician!
Reschedule, again!
It is Monday morning and I am now home with the technician who is installing our satellite. My friend, Debora told me (after we had rescheduled ) that they were at her home for 8 hours doing the installation. Please, no!
In the meantime, on Saturday, Donovan decided to take matters into his own hands and bought a new telephone box to put in the basement which FIXED our phone line so we were able to cancel the Sunday appointment. It only cost $10.00 instead of the $57 and we didn't have to miss church!
He actually spent several hours the previous Saturday trying to fix it and to no avail so this was a great victory!
I called to cancel the Sunday appointment ( By this time we have memorized the customer service phone #)
First, I emphasized that we had
2 pending appointments...We only wanted to cancel
1 of them.
They got it and repeated it back to me.
As we were riding to church, Donovan said, " What do you bet that AT&T calls to say that they are on their way today, even though we canceled?"
Well, sure enough, about 2:00 our friendly AT&T technician called to say that he say on his way.
The satellite tech has been here for almost 2 hours and I don't see any indication that the installation is near completion.
Hopefully we won't be changing services again any time soon!
