Henry's Surgery Phase 1

After 2 1/2 months of waiting for Henry's cranial vault surgery, finally, August 31st arrived. We were at the hospital bright and early on that Tuesday morning, Henry's surgery being scheduled first on the list at 6:30 am. Henry had several 'groupies" at the hospital cheering for him....Two sets of grandparents, one great grandmother, and one great aunt!

Henry had many visitors before the surgery. One of which was a member of the anesthesiologist's team who introduced him to the mask that he would wear during the surgery.
She wanted him to "play" with it before hand so that he wouldn't be alarmed when he saw it in the operating room.

Soon after we arrived, we were all waiting in the tiny room for the doctors to come and Get Henry we found out that there was an emergency surgery going on and that Henry's surgery would be delayed...As it turned it, it was delayed for 4 1/2 hours.
He was such a little trooper, having had nothing to eat since 10:00 the night before.



This picture was made very soon after Henry arrived in the Pediatric ICU. Still asleep from the anesthesia and his head is beginning to swell.

Early Wednesday morning the oxygen tubes are gone and the right eye is swollen shut.
